This course will help students plan a life of global impact. They'll learn about the major religions of the world and discover "The Story of the Bible" from cover to cover. They'll also map out what their future may possibly look like through writing personal vision statements and personal manifestos. Students will discover the freedom there is in living to reveal God's Greatest Glory! Each week, students will learn from God's Word, have short reading assignments with comprehensive questions, and follow an ongoing story between a brother and sister which illustrates what it means to live for God's Glory.
Debby Sjogren graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Education in 1982. She has been married to author and missions speaker, Bob Sjogren, since 1986, and God has blessed them with four wonderful children whom Debby began homeschooling in 1993 in Mesa, AZ. Now twenty years later, with four home school graduates whom have all recently graduated with their bachelor's degrees, God led Debby and her husband, Bob, to begin writing and publishing Bible curriculum for high school credit through the ministry of UnveilinGlory, a home-based missions mobilization ministry. They have also expanded to Elementary and Middle School curricula in the past few years. Besides publishing curriculum, Debby also mentors young mothers at her local church, serves as the Guidance Counselor at Arete Christian Academy, and co-leads summer mission trips with her husband as Associate Staff of e3Partners.

We will create our own original arts & crafts projects as well as projects to donate to worthy causes. Each week students will make something to keep and something to give away using a variety of art materials and techniques. No artistic talent is required; everyone can do arts & crafts!
Our special projects will be given to: nursing homes, shelters, orphanages (worldwide), military programs, missionaries, assisted living facilities, Special Olympics athletes, a school for the children of missionaries, hospital patients, needy families, Caritas, as well as other recipients chosen by students. Students will enjoy this unique opportunity to use their creativity to share God’s love with others.

She began her Spanish instruction as a child living in Panama and continued with the language, receiving her B.A. from Bridgewater College. She is MOS (formerly MOUS) certified in Office 2000, but currently teaches all versions up to version 2013 to adults at various computer schools in Richmond. As an independent consultant she has built databases, written manuals and trained clients such as US Navy and other government officials. Through the years, companies have recognized her ability to help today's adults with their writing, management, and interpersonal skills. She is an industry published author, has worked on several official historical projects, and other research assignments. Although teaching for corporations has been a blessing by allowing her to be at home with her children, Mona hears the Father's call to serve the children and families of other homeschoolers so that they are prepared for the future as knowledgeable and faith-filled leaders on earth.

This course is an English elective for high school students. We will be learning about public speaking and debate in a fun, interactive, and exciting way from Biblically based curriculum.
During the first part of the year, my class will learn how to identify, analyze, and present different types of speeches. We will hold class discussions and activities, and the students will learn how to prepare and give speeches effectively. There will be an emphasis on inpromptu speech delivery, which involves delivering a message on the spur of the moment, as when someone is asked to just "say a few words." Developing this ability is one of the most important and useful skills to have in both speech delivery and debating.
During the second part of the year, we will learn how to properly debate with critical thinking, sound reasoning, and solid presentation. This will include learning how to make logical claims with a premise and conclusion. We will also learn about logical fallacies and how to identify them. This will give a good foundation for becoming a successful debater.
The underlying foundation throughout this course is God's Word, and how we should speak to one another as Christians. Colossians 4:6 says, "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
At the end of the year we will hold a public debate involving all the students. This will be a time when all families can come and observe what the students have learned over the year!

During this course we will learn different types of cooking and baking skills, gain a basic understanding of common kitchen tools and equipment, and learn how to plan and prepare meals.
Over the course of the year I plan to include canning jam and pie fillings, preparing freezer meals for the crockpot, baking breads, making and decorating cakes, candy making, preparing fresh food meals, Italian cooking, using puff pastries, southern cooking, preparing appetizers, making soups, and creating food arrangements.
The supply fee will be used to buy each student their own apron, mixing bowl, spatula, knife, whisk, etc. that they may keep at the end of the year. Also included with the fee will be staples for cooking. These include basic spices, butter, oil, sugar, flour, etc.
For most classes a finished dish will be brought for the students to see a finished product before I teach them how to prepare it. Then they will prepare the dish at home. Students will be assigned some ingredients to bring to each class. They will use these ingredients to make the dish at home. For some projects, like jam making, we will be preparing the recipe in class.
At the end of each quarter, we will be having a kitchen challenge! The students will be pairing off into teams and they will compete to make the best dish. Then each dish will be judged and a prize awarded. We plan to do a Facebook Live video on our Arete page so that you may observe the action as it happens.
